Hello everyone! I’m Leandro Juncos, 19 years old, and I’m glad to share a bit of my journey in the motorsport world—a passion that runs deep in my family, spanning over 60 years of history.
It all began with my grandfather, Ricardo A. Juncos, a dedicated Turismo Nacional driver. He passed his love for racing down to my father, Ricardo Juncos, who competed in Formula Renault and Sports Prototype. Today, my father co-owns and serves as the team principal of Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR), which competes in two of the most prestigious single-seater categories in the United States: NXT and INDYCAR.
Motorsport and my love for soccer have always been a part of my life. I started racing go-karts at just 5 years old, competing in events like Kid-Kart and MiniRok in Florida. By 11, racing had become ingrained in who I am.
After an experience outside of motorsport in the world of soccer, I decided to return to the U.S. in 2023, where I had the privilege of joining the JHR team in the INDYCAR championship. As an assistant engineer for the #78 car, this role has been vital to my development, helping me grow on and off track.
Towards the end of 2023, my first professional racing opportunities began to emerge. My first test in Alabama was a pivotal moment — I got into the car for the first time in the rain and still managed to keep a competitive pace. This marked the beginning of my professional racing career. After achieving top times at circuits like Sebring and NOLA, I earned a spot with DEForce Racing for the 2024 championship, where I participated in four races.
As the 2024 season progressed, I had the exciting opportunity to test at Silverstone with Chris Dittmann Racing in their GB3 car. Although the opportunity came up at the last minute, the test was a success and opened the door for me to do more testing in 2025 in the new GB3 car in preparation for the 2025 season. I will now be competing with the Hillspeed in the 2025 GB4 Championship. I’ll be competing at many of England’s most iconic tracks against a very competitive field of drivers.
This transition from soccer to motorsport has been an incredible journey, full of challenges and rewarding moments. As I look to the future, I’m eager to continue growing as a driver and to carry on my family’s legacy in motorsport.
